Black-fronted Dotterel (Elseyornis melanops), Ouyen, Victoria.

I was so excited to see this bird as I have never seen them in the wild despite them being common. We were driving around during the day checking out potential frogging spots for that night when we came to a big dam/swamp with a pair of these funny birds darting everywhere.

Typically I didn’t have my 300mm lens with me, so I had my Dad sit there guarding the birds (and be devoured by mosquitoes) while I ran back to the hotel to get the lens!
